After living one year in Berlin I decided to develop a project in a fragmented part of the city -massive train tracks area, Berlin wall and river cutting its landscape-. It is located in an strategic position in Kreuzberg-Friederichshain neighbourhood, in the border between former East and West Berlin.

After living one year in Berlin I decided to develop a project in a fragmented part of the city -massive train tracks area, Berlin wall and river cutting its landscape-. It is located in an strategic position in Kreuzberg-Friederichshain neighbourhood, in the border between former East and West Berlin.
The project aims to:
-FLUIDIZE CITY CONNECTIONS with a new transport interchanger that unifies the two existing nearby train stations and tram stop.
-INTRODUCE PUBLIC USES RELATED WITH MEDIA with an indoor-outdoor public mediatheque of 7000sqm.
-ACTIVATE PUBLIC SPACE with events such as outdoor cinema in the slopes, skatepark under the bridge, cafeterias and kiosks.
-FOSTER NATURE with a wide park that connects the interchanger+mediatheque building with the Spree river front and avoids overbuilding.
The intervention is inside upcoming MediaSpree urban development, one of the largest property investment projects in Berlin -180ha- where telecommunication and media companies such as Universal Music, MTV Central Europe, among others are going to establish.
To avoid massive privatization, the project I purpose is a 10ha space for public uses. [Transport interchanger + Mediatheque + Park].
The existing bridge is extended with a platform that contains the new transport interchanger and the mediatheque. This platform is connected to the under bridge level new park. Some parts of the park turn into parking lots when there is an event in recently opened O2 Arena, a nearby multipurpose venue that can hold up to 17.000 people.
